1. What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding and improving behaviors. It is commonly used to support individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by teaching new skills and reducing challenging behaviors. ABA services can be provided in your home, in your school, in your daycare, in our clinic, and in the community.

2. What are the requirements to receive ABA services?

To access ABA services, you need:

  • An active health insurance policy.
  • A formal autism diagnosis for the individual seeking services.

3. Will ABA services incur out-of-pocket expenses?

ABA therapy is typically covered by medical insurance. However, depending on your specific insurance plan, you may be responsible for co-pays or deductibles. You can contact us, and we will help you determine upfront if there will be any costs associated with services.

4. What age range does Childwise ABA serve?

We provide ABA services to individuals from 1 to 21 years old.

5. What is the process to begin ABA services with Childwise ABA?

To initiate services:

  • We will send you an intake form to collect basic information.
  • Provide us with your insurance details and a copy of the autism diagnosis.
  • We will request authorization from your insurance company.
  • Once authorized, one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) will conduct an assessment and develop a personalized treatment plan.
  • Services will commence based on the goals outlined in the treatment plan. Throughout this seamless process, our team will guide and support you every step of the way.

6. Do you have a waiting list for services?

Currently, we do not have a waiting list and can begin the intake process promptly upon receiving your information.

7. How long does it take to start receiving services?

The process typically takes between 6 to 8 weeks from the time we receive all necessary documents to the start of services.

8. What does ABA therapy look like?

ABA therapy involves:

  • A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) providing one-on-one therapy tailored to your child's needs in your preferred setting (home, clinic, school, daycare, community, etc.).
  • Regular supervision by a BCBA to ensure the effectiveness of the intervention.
  • Weekly parent guidance sessions with the BCBA to equip you with strategies and support to address your child's needs effectively.

9. Do you provide diagnostic evaluations for autism?

No, we do not offer diagnostic evaluations. However, you can reach out to us, and we will be more than happy to guide you to the right place for an evaluation.

10. If I am currently receiving ABA services from another provider and would like to switch, what is the process?

To transfer services to Childwise ABA, you will need to obtain a discharge letter from your current provider. Additionally, we will conduct a new assessment to develop a personalized treatment plan before beginning services.

11. Is ABA therapy effective for individuals with autism?

Yes, research has shown that ABA therapy can lead to significant improvements in various areas, including communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors, especially when started early.

12. Are your therapists certified?

Yes, our team consists of certified professionals, including BCBAs and RBTs, who have undergone rigorous training to provide high-quality ABA services.

13. Do you offer services in languages other than English?

Please contact us to discuss any language preferences or needs, and we will do our best to accommodate.

14. What is the duration and frequency of ABA sessions?

The duration and frequency of sessions are individualized based on the assessment and the specific needs of your child. This will be outlined in the treatment plan developed by the BCBA.

15. Can ABA therapy be conducted in group settings?

While one-on-one therapy is common, we also offer group sessions focusing on social skills and peer interactions when appropriate.
